Flying & Levitation1 What Skill Does Flying And Levitation Require? (acrobatics? Spell Mastery? Skill in that list?)Acrobatics is the skill to be used while maneuvering under the influence of spells (though some games allow you to develop Fly/Glide skill). 1a if a maneuver is required is that every round?Simple movement (i.e., flying or making gradual changes in direction) wouldn't normally requirement a maneuver roll. But there are many things that can complicate this (high winds, moving at high speeds and turning, etc.). 1b if you are making a manuever roll what level of difficulty would you use?Depends on the nature of the maneuver? For simple high speeds, etc, probably just a Medium manuever. But if you need to grab something from the ground while flying... much more difficult. 1c Same as 1x when on foot ?That's probably a good rule of thumb. 1d if A mm gave you a larger that 100%, would you then go further?Sure. I would allow it. Does movement require concentration? No more so than maneuvering on foot. 3 Can someone Levitate or fly at half speed for a 50% action?Once you are flying... treat the movement just as you would any other movement (though there are some exceptions for flying... see Below). 4 Can you cast other spells while levitating? (if concentration is not required)Sure. If you do not have to concentrate to maintain the levitation, your actions are no limited at all. 7 Is a Special Combat Maneuver Required to Fight while levitated or Flying? In Dor Amarth, yes. 8 Can a flying character tow a levitating one?Sure. 9 any other comments on The Movement type lists would be appreciated.Levitation is handled in fairly obvious ways. Flying however is a bit trickier. This is subject to GM's discretion, but we realized long ago that Flying-type of spells are WAY too powerful if the flying character is allowed to "land" and then take off again (because that implies that the target of the spell has control over when the spell is active... something that doesn't apply to ANY other type of spell). So, I ruled long ago that once you touch the ground while under the effects of a fly spell, the spell is cancelled. |
